Advice to graduate accountants
I am deeply passionate about public practice. It is a unique and privileged position to be in. Always show character and integrity, work hard and act in the best interest of the public.
Professional services is not for everyone. There are long hours on the job, significant training and education, regulatory requirements to be complied with and meeting challenging client expectations and situations that have to be addressed.
Don't forget it's a profession and not a job. If you are after a low-pressure 9 to 5 job, do something different.
But if you want the emotional rewards of making a difference in other people's lives then go for it.
